The Magic of PRP
What is PRP?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is the amazing treatment that can be both injected and treated as a facial. Often referred to as the vampire facial, this treatment consists of separating blood cells from the plasma and platelets. The liquid gold that is plasma contains growth factors, a key component for your body to recover and heal from any injuries. This is what makes this treatment so amazing! You’re using your own platelets and plasma! Coming in for your PRP treatment, you are greeted with a staff member ready to draw your blood. Your blood is then placed into a centrifuge that spins the blood at a specific frequency to make the plasma, platelets and blood separation. The platelet-rich plasma is what the Dr. will use for your treatment! The plasma is collected through a syringe and injected just as you would any filler or botox.
What does PRP do for the skin?
The growth factor in the plasma has been shown to improve skin elasticity, volume and texture. During the PRP process, skin is introduced to the platelet-rich plasma increasing your body's natural collagen and elastin production resulting in a more plump, tighter and smoother look! Because of this PRP is the gift that keeps giving! Anyone can receive the benefits PRP provides. Whether you want PRP filler, rather than opting for traditional fillers, or you would like a more rejuvenated look. Though, if you have skin concerns like premature wrinkles, sun damage or even hair loss, PRP would be great for you!
How long does PRP last?
Because PRP is self-made and depends on the body’s production of collagen and elastin, it may take anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks. The effects however will last 6-9 months and will continue to help the healing of any soft-tissue injuries.
How many PRP treatments should I get?
The number of treatments you should get is dependent on the severity of your skin concerns as well as the area you would like the injections. It is best to discuss with the Dr. of your goals to receive any recommendations they may have. Most patients see the most benefit in the face after 3 treatments, with 4 weeks in-between each treatment.
