Hyperpigmentation & Hydroquinone
What is Hydroquinone?
Whenever you see a product with Hydroquinone as one of the ingredients, it is meant to lighten the skin. For those that struggle with hyperpigmentation, Hydroquinone is a great treatment option for you.
What is Hyperpigmentation?
Hyperpigmentation is a skin condition in which some areas of the skin are darker than the rest of the face. Such areas could appear as brown, black, gray, sun spots, or liver spots. Hyperpigmentation could affect anyone. Genetics and hormones play a strong role in Hyperpigmentation but can be lighted with Hydroquinone. Hydroquinone limits your skins melanocyte supply. Melanocytes are cells that make melanin which is responsible for the pigment in your skin. There is an excess amount of melanin due to overactive melanocytes in patients with hyperpigmented skin concerns. With Hydroquinone we are able to control these pigment producing cells to create an even skin complexion.
What is the Hydroquinone Process like?
On average, clients begin to notice a difference in their skin's hyperpigmentation in about four weeks. We recommend being on Hydroquinone for 3 consecutive months and no longer than five months. Because most hyperpigmentation skin concerns have no one time fix, such as melasma, this is a system one must remain on. After 3 months, clients must stop hydroquinone use for at least 2-3 months to allow the skin to produce pigment once again after the skin's bleaching.
Who can benefit from Hydroquinone?
Hyperpigmentation can come in a variety of forms. These include:
Acne scars
Age spots
Freckles
Melasma
Sun Spots
Liver Spots
